Kevin Lightburn
Straightright Founder/Head Trainer Springdale
Kevin "Lights Out" Lightburn has been fortunate to have been around boxing for over 35 years. In his first boxing competition ever, he became the Iowa State Golden Gloves Champion. From there "Boxing 4 Life" became his motto, and he went on to become the National Golden Gloves Olympic year Silver Golden Gloves Champion, a two time Kansas City Golden Gloves Champion, a National P.A.L. Silver Medal Champion, and achieved a ranking of 7th in the nation for amateur boxers. With his certification as a boxing coach for USA Boxing Association and AIBA (International Boxing Association), he has trained champions from top-ranked amateurs to former world champions.
Ever the humble gentleman , you'll scarcely hear Lightburn brag on his illustrious career. Fortunately, we will. Lightburn has coached a veritable who's who of professional boxers and combat competitors in his ongoing career. From Jermain Taylor to Kalvin Henderson. From Matt Hamilton to Tj Brown . From Bj Flores to Oscar Cantú . The list goes on of champions he's taken under his wing. The Lightburn name is known all over the boxing world, big and small.
With his knowledge of boxing, as well as fitness, he decided to share his passion by creating Straightright Boxing & Fitness. Every class is designed to be energetic, fun, and consistently challenging. At Straightright, all fitness levels are welcomed, from the top athlete to those who have never put on a pair of boxing gloves before. These workouts really are for everyone!
Anthony Tucker
Head Trainer Little Rock
Anthony has been with the organization since 2005. He’s also a certified boxing coach for USA Boxing Association and AIBA (International Boxing Association) and has served as an Inspector for the Arkansas Athletic Commission. Experience includes both a head coach and a “corner man” in various types of bouts (including Golden Gloves, Toughman, USA Olympic Trials, Pro Fights, and MMA inspector).
He studied the “Sweet Science of Boxing” under Kevin “Lights Out” Lightburn for over 10 years. This training has been a vital partin Anthony’s teaching the techniques and principles of boxing for Straightright’s Total Body Fitness classes, Boxing Academy classes, as well as, group sparring sessions.
Anthony has accomplished many personal fitness goals and has participated in several competitions such as marathons, NPC Bodybuilding competitions, and obstacle course runs. He continues to increase his knowledge of plyometrics, aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, interval training, and nutrition. His number one goal is to help clients achieve their personal goals, and—knowing that such goals are different for each individual—is committed to building personal relationships to have a better understanding of what they want out of their fitness program.Kalvin Henderson

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Kalvin Henderson attended Everman High School in Everman, Texas and graduated at the young age of 16. He then earned a full music scholarship from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville as a Music Education major with an emphasis in Percussion. Kalvin graduated in May 2012 and is a now certified music teacher in the state of Arkansas.
Henderson started his journey of the "sweet science" 15 years old. He was invited to the Riverside Community Center at his first boxing gym; the Fort Worth Boxing Club. He started training with the club, and after just a month of training he fought in his first local tournament and won. As the years went by Henderson continued to train and win local boxing shows and tournaments but it wasn't until after his sophomore year in college, when he switched gyms to Reyes Boxing Club in River Oaks, Texas, that he went on to win the 2010 Texas Games Championships and 2011 Fort Worth Regional Golden Gloves Tournament in the 165 lb novice division. He also fought in the 2011 Texas Games Championships in the open 165 lb division placing second. In 2012 Kalvin met Kevin Lightburn in Northwest Arkansas and won his first Arkansas state title in the 165 lb open division.Kalvin has fought and won many local shows and tournaments in Oklahoma, Missouri, California and Arkansas, winning the 2013 Missouri Black Expo Championship, placing 2nd two times at the Mid-South Regional Golden Gloves tournament and eventually winning that tournament as well. Henderson also placed 5th in the 2013 USA Boxing National Tournament. In January 2015, while ranked #4 in the nation in the Middleweight 165 lb division, Kalvin turned his sights to professional boxing.
Since turning professional Henderson has been on a tear rising to 15-2-1 with 11 of his wins coming by KO. Henderson won Fight of the Year at the Bennie Brisco Awards in Philadelphia and has earned a rank of number 10 in the WORLD under the World Boxing Association (WBA), and frequents Showtime Boxing telecasts. He is currently on the hunt for a world championship.
Kalvin has been teaching and coaching since 2008 and continues learning and working with a variety of people who are taking the journey towards living a healthy life and learning the "sweet science."
Jennie Dale
Nutritionist
Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jennie graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1999 with a Masters of Science with an emphasis in Nutrition.
She has always enjoyed the wellness portion of nutrition and how the right foods can benefit your health. Her belief is that a person can eat just about anything as long as it is done in a healthy way.
Jennie has worked one-on-one with Straightright clients preparing food plans, reviewing food journals and helping to meet their health and wellness goals through nutrition.
Jennie works with Straightright competitive boxers on proper nutrition suited for the physical demands training for boxing competition can pose. She is always available to provide advice and guidance to everyone. She is currently working toward her goal of becoming a Certified Sports Dietitian.
She also handles daily office responsibilities and is essentially your point of contact at Straightright Little Rock
Bernard Oliver
Operations &
Trainer Springdale
Bernard Oliver began boxing in high school as a way to improve his hand-eye coordination for football and to learn self-defense. His boxing cross-training quickly blossomed into a love for the sweet science of the sport. Oliver went on to attend the University of Arkansas where he participated in their boxing club activities. While in college Bernard won the 2012 Mid-America Emmy award as a television producer, in the student category, along with his Advanced Television classmates. He also placed second in the National Broadcast Society, South Central competition, again as a producer for a sports specialty show covering combat sports.
His continued involvement and love of the sport led him to Straightright Springdale in 2013 where he is currently on staff as an assistant coach and trainer and point of contact for all customer service needs.
Since joining the Straightright Boxing Team his notable amateur wins included 2015 Title Championship at super-heavyweight, then at heavyweight a 4 year reign at State Golden Gloves 2016 - 2020 as champion,
2018 Regional Golden Gloves Champion and getting ranked at #7 in the USA.
Big Smoove, as he has come to be known, made his professional debut in February 2023 and won by TKO in the second round, opening his career in Straightright fashion.He is currently 1-0-0, (1KO).
Bernard is also a filmmaker and Asst. Amateur Team Coach under Kevin Lightburn in Springdale, Ark. His first film, "Lost in the Sauce: The Kalvin Henderson Story" is on the world film circuit and has won over 16 film awards and festival selections. The film continues to gain notoriety around the world as he moves into more film endeavors.
As an amatuer coach he has coached many current champions and a couple of professionals including his Jurmain McDonald in his KO victory over Evan Holyfield.Gym Locations
