Kevin Lightburn
Straightright Founder/Head coach
Kevin "Lights Out" Lightburn has been fortunate to have been around boxing for over 35 years. In his first boxing competition ever, he became the Iowa State Golden Gloves Champion. From there "Boxing 4 Life" became his motto, and he went on to become the National Golden Gloves Olympic year Silver Golden Gloves Champion, a two time Kansas City Golden Gloves Champion, a National P.A.L. Silver Medal Champion, and achieved a ranking of 7th in the nation for amateur boxers. With his certification as a boxing coach for USA Boxing Association and AIBA (International Boxing Association), he has trained champions from top-ranked amateurs to former world champions.
Ever the humble gentleman , you'll scarcely hear Lightburn brag on his illustrious career. Fortunately, we will. Lightburn has coached a veritable who's who of professional boxers and combat competitors in his ongoing career. From Jermain Taylor to Kalvin Henderson. From Matt Hamilton to Tj Brown . From Bj Flores to Oscar Cantú . The list goes on of champions he's taken under his wing. The Lightburn name is known all over the boxing world, big and small.
With his knowledge of boxing, as well as fitness, he decided to share his passion by creating Straightright Boxing & Fitness. Every class is designed to be energetic, fun, and consistently challenging. At Straightright, all fitness levels are welcomed, from the top athlete to those who have never put on a pair of boxing gloves before. These workouts really are for everyone!
Kalvin Henderson
Head Trainer Springdale
Kalvin Henderson, a Fort Worth, Texas native, showed academic and musical promise early, graduating from Everman High School at just 16 and earning a full music scholarship to the University of Arkansas, where he majored in Music Education with a focus on Percussion. He graduated in 2012 and became a certified music teacher in Arkansas. Alongside his academic pursuits,
Henderson began boxing at 15 at the Fort Worth Boxing Club. After quickly winning his first local tournament, he continued to compete and improve, eventually training at Reyes Boxing Club. His hard work led to victories in the 2010 Texas Games Championships and the 2011 Fort Worth Regional Golden Gloves. He also placed in several other tournaments and captured his first Arkansas state title in 2012.
Henderson’s boxing career continued to flourish as he earned titles across multiple states, including Oklahoma, Missouri, California, and Arkansas. Notable achievements include the 2013 Missouri Black Expo Championship and a 5th place finish in the USA Boxing National Tournament. Ranked #4 nationally in the 165 lb division in 2015, Kalvin transitioned to professional boxing, compiling an impressive 19-2-1 record with 13 knockouts. He earned the Fight of the Year award at the Bennie Brisco Awards and climbed to a top-10 world ranking under the WBA. Now a regular on Showtime Boxing, Henderson remains focused on capturing a world title while also continuing his passion for teaching and coaching others in boxing and healthy living.
in 2025 henderson joined the team combt league ranks and looks to put the dallas enforcers at the top of the league.
Bernard Oliver

Bernard Oliver began boxing in high school as a way to improve his hand-eye coordination for football and to learn self-defense. His boxing cross-training quickly blossomed into a love for the sweet science of the sport. Oliver went on to attend the University of Arkansas where he participated in their boxing club activities. While in college Bernard won the 2012 Mid-America Emmy award as a television producer, in the student category, along with his Advanced Television classmates. He also placed second in the National Broadcast Society, South Central competition, again as a producer for a sports specialty show covering combat sports.
His continued involvement and love of the sport led him to Straightright Springdale in 2013 where he is currently on staff as an assistant coach and trainer and point of contact for all customer service needs.
Since joining the Straightright Boxing Team his notable amateur wins included 2015 Title Championship at super-heavyweight, then at heavyweight a 4 year reign at State Golden Gloves 2017 - 2020 as champion,
2018 Regional Golden Gloves Champion and getting ranked at #7 in the USA.
Big Smoove, as he has come to be known, made his professional debut in February 2023 and won by TKO in the second round, opening his career in Straightright fashion.He is currently 2-1-0, (2KO).
Bernard is also a filmmaker and Asst. Amateur Team Coach under Kevin Lightburn in Springdale, Ark. His first film, "Lost in the Sauce: The Kalvin Henderson Story" is on the world film circuit and has won over 20 film awards and festival selections. The film continues to gain notoriety around the world as he moves into more film endeavors.
As an amatuer coach he has coached many current champions and professionals including Jurmain McDonald in his KO victory over Evan Holyfield.Gym Locations
